JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY: Provides daily direct supervision and operational direction to a particular department within Lending and Deposits & Payments; Includes scheduling work, monitoring performance, and developing/mentoring staff in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable regulatory and legal requirements; provides a detailed level of expertise in bank loan/deposits & payments operations and technology. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, organizes, and manages the daily activities of the department through effective leadership and efficient coordination of duties. Oversees and supports a performance management culture in the department through effective plans, documentation, and assessments for all associates. Develops, captures, and reports service level metrics (productivity and efficiency). Serves as the detailed subject matter expert for areas of supervisory responsibility. Coordinates best practice guidelines with current knowledge of multiple state and federal lending/deposit laws and regulations, and bank policy. Performs financial management for the department, including expense control. Controls Risk management by maintaining a satisfactory system of internal control in the department. Directs workflow, encourages high levels of productivity, tracks, and reports metrics (service levels and error rates). Resolves problems. Formally and informally trains and cross-trains department associates. Communicates changes and builds commitment. Implements and tests of disaster recovery capabilities. Reviews and documents current processes and procedures. Develops training materials and procedure communications in conjunction with Manager. Facilitates communication between business units. Serves as backup for staff during absences, meeting deadlines, or completing assignments. Conducts unit meetings. Monitors incentive payouts compared to production. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise several employees in the specific areas in the division; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also, directly supervises some non-supervisory employees. The supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor's Degree 4 - 6 years of related experience and/or training A combination of education and experience is acceptable. Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences and multiple levels of management Strong interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work well across teams Self-starter with strong organizational skills Ability to multi task and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills Ability to formulate sound conclusions and recommend optimal course of action based on analysis Overall knowledge of bank operations and procedures with specific concentration on lending and deposits & payments processes Ability to apply conceptual intent of loan and deposit/payment transactions to practical situations Understanding of applicable software Complete familiarity of all area documents, their purpose, and requirements for proper completion ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
