Job Description

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) CAD/BIM Designer you will apply your unique skills and insights as part of project teams that span the South Central Region and across the United States. Your I&C design and drafting skills will support designs for wastewater treatment plants, water treatment plants, pump stations, and collection and conveyance systems.

You will engage in Hazen’s collaborative approach to deliver and meet our clients’ needs by:

Ensuring drawing compliance with company and client CAD/BIM standards and styles,

• Preparing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network diagrams, control panel wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and installation details,
• Creating BIM models and CAD based files for use in the production of contract documents,
• Coordinating with the other disciplines (process/mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and site civil),
• Updating and improving AutoCAD Plant 3D templates and tools for use in the production of I&C drawings and automated reports (e.g., instrument lists, input/output lists, and valve lists).

Qualifications and Skills

Required

• Expert level proficiency in software platforms AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite,
• Multiple years of documented experience creating BIM models and CAD based files for use in the production of construction contract documents,
• Experience working on and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams,
• Focused on each task and willing to learn,
• Strong organizational skills.

Preferred

• Multiple years performing I&C design and CAD work for public sector water/wastewater clients,
• Demonstrated understanding of structures and equipment for water/wastewater facilities,
• Multiple years of experience using AutoCAD Plant 3D,
• Experience working on Revit software platform,
• Experience mentoring junior designers and other staff,
• Experience communicating and coordinating with clients.

Education

Required

• Completion of technical school CAD design certificate with emphasis on AutoCAD, and/or
• multiple years of experience in this role for the types of facilities noted above.

Preferred

• Engineering Technology Associates degree, and/or
• BS in Engineering Technology from ABET accredited university
