HAZEN SAWYER is Hiring an Assistant Engineer Near Baltimore, MD

Hazen has an exceptional and immediate opportunity for an entry-level engineer to join our dynamic Water Resources Practice Group in the Baltimore, MD office. The individual will work closely with other engineers to deliver water resources studies and design projects to clients across the United States. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Assisting with the delivery of dam, stormwater, floodplain, water supply, watershed management, and green infrastructure projects including research, analysis, planning, permitting, and design 
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, models, and design calculations 
  • Performing civil site layout and grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility coordination, and access road design 
  • Preparing assessment and design reports 
  • Contributing to and overseeing development of construction documents and technical specifications 
  • Providing construction management support and inspection services 
  • Supporting Hazen’s Water Resources Practice Group business development efforts 
  • Communicating and interacting effectively with clients and internal team members 

Qualifications: 

  • 0-3 years of experience delivering and permitting dam, stormwater, floodplain, water supply, watershed management, and green infrastructure projects 
  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil, Environmental, or Biosystems Engineering or equivalent
  • EIT or ability to obtain within twelve months 
  • Experience with GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, PCSWMM, SSA, Hydraflow, and/or Flow-3D preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a team
