HAZELWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT-JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Warehouse Worker
REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs duties to accept (receive) and store approved vendor deliveries to the District warehouse, maintain the warehouse inventory, and distribute supplies and equipment to District buildings as directed.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
  • Performs warehouse tasks, including operating and maintaining warehouse equipment.
  • Operates a computerized inventory accounting system, itemizing and accounting for all goods.
  • Processes incoming vendor deliveries.
  • Delivers school supplies, including but not limited to, food, paper, school equipment and District inter-school mail.
  • Performs local purchasing tasks.
  • Performs warehouse worker tasks in accordance with standard practices of the trade and in a conscientious and safe manner.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
  • Walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping or crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, grasping,
feeling, talking, hearing.
  • Normal attention: with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, depth perception, and
the ability to ID and distinguish colors, required.
  • Moderate to heavy physical demand with regular lifting of light (1 to 25 lbs.) items by hand and lifting
of average to heavy items (25 lbs. to over 60 lbs.) by hand or with mechanical assistance.
Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Subject to both inside and outside working conditions, with exposure to extreme cold and heat, and with some exposure to a variety of physical hazards such as working in high places, as well as adverse atmospheric conditions, but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable. Travel between buildings required to deliver supplies and equipment.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Knowledge of general warehousing practices and use of basic equipment requiring basic skills knowledge. Equivalent to graduation from a general or technical high school.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one year up to and including three years of experience in general warehousing and delivery or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
  • Apply commonsense understanding to carry out one or two-step instructions. Deal with standardized situations with occasional or no variables in or from these situations encountered on the job.
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers. Perform the four basic arithmetic operations.
  • Reading, writing, and speaking at a basic level.
  • Must possess good hearing and 20/20 vision, with correction if necessary.
  • Must be capable and qualified to drive a District vehicle.
Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
Computer and related software, bar coding equipment, copy machine, forklift, and delivery vehicles.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Commercial Drivers License.
