Senior Construction Estimator
The Estimator, reporting directly to the Director of Pre-Construction. Assists the estimating team in project drawings and specifications and subcontractors and vendor proposals based on project documents necessary to construct the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified for large, extensive or multi-family residential projects. You must be professional, organized and systematic towards the work; have thorough knowledge about construction estimating methods and activities and all related functions; be an excellent communicator, possessing both verbal and written skills, as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain good relationships with the entire team.
Responsibilities & Duties
Pre-Construction Responsibilities
- Review all documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the entire project and its requirements.
- Assist pre-construction team in procurement, providing quantity take-offs, scope review meetings, and in issuing contracts and purchase orders.
- Visit sites as necessary for pre-bid meetings
- Prepare construction budgets by review of project plans and specifications including updates or changes
- Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices
- Evaluates and level bids
- Resolves cost discrepancies
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors and subcontractors
Construction Estimator Requirements
- Previous working experience as a construction estimator for a minimum of 4-7 years
- Familiarity with computer programs such as Procore, Planswift and Excel
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to multi-task very important
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Experience/Education
- BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- Prior related experience with a Commercial GC/CM
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Specifically Excel, Word and Project)
- Proficient in Planswift (or similar software)
