We have an immediate opening for an Assistant Store Manager to join our dynamic team! This position reports to the Coffee Shop Manager.
Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to ensure effective store operations. Filters communication to the shift team as directed by the Store Manager.
  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Haymarket.
  • Maintains and models a calm demeanor during times of volume or unusual events; continues to keep the store operating to standard and sets a positive example for the shift team.
  • Develops positive relationships with the shift team by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs and concerns.
  • Engages in conversations with customers to understand customer needs and the needs of the community.
  • Models a customer comes first attitude, delivers outstanding customer service, and supervises team members to ensure they are delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Meet store operating policies and standards, including providing quality beverages and food products, cash handling and store safety and security.
  • Prepare and coach team members food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers, including recipe changes such as temperature, quality of ingredients or substituted ingredients.
  • Reviews store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement in order to provide coaching and direction to the shift team to achieve operational goals.
  • Supports store manager in implementing company programs by working directly with the shift team to execute action plans that meet operational and organizational objectives.
  • Ability to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift.
  • Arrives on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
  • Maximizes sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment cleanliness, repair, and safety standards.
  • Immediately reports safety hazards.
Requirements:
  • Previous, progressive experience in a position that required constant interaction with and fulfilling the requests of customers.
  • Previous experience delegating tasks to other employees and/or coordinating the tasks of two (2) or more employees.
  • High energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for Haymarket products, core values, and company philosophy.
  • Ability to:
  • Follow a recipe.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Visually examine products and quality for freshness.
  • Deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Follow directions and procedures, effective time management and organization skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Must have the flexibility to work weekends and with working hours
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Standing/walking 6-8 hours.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezers), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Ability to use ladders.
