Hayes Gibson Property Services is Hiring a Housekeeper Near Bloomington, IN

Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform assigned day-to-day housekeeping functions.

2. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments and established housekeeping procedures.

3. Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable and attractive manner.

4. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.

5. Assure that established infection control practices are maintained when performing housekeeping measures,

6. Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident apartments and recreational areas daily as instructed.

7. Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures.

8. Clean windows/mirrors in resident apartments, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways.

9. Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.

10. Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.

l l . Clean walls and ceiling by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.

12. Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.

13. Clean hallways, stairways, and elevators.

14, Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liner.

15. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment.

16. Assure that work assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, including before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.

17. Assure that an adequate inventory of housekeeping supplies are maintained.

18. Report burned-out light bulbs, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room lights, etc. to the supervisor as soon as practical.

19. Perform deep cleaning procedures, as instructed, when a resident is moved out, and/or transferred.

20. Assure that worWcleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.

21. Follow established fire-safety policies and procedures.

22. Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.

23. Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor.

24. Maintain the confidentiality of resident-care information.

25. Honor the residents' personal and property rights.

26. Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc., as necessary/directed.

27. Turn in all found articles to the supervisor.

28. Attend service and staff meetings.

29. Keep work/assignment areas free of hazardous objects, such as protruding mop/broom handles, unnecessary equipment, supplies, etc.

30. Attend and participate in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.

31. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

l . Lift/carry objects such as mops, buckets, carts, bottles ranging from less than 10 to 50 pounds without assistance.

2. Frequent bending/stooping to clean common areas and resident rooms.

3. Push/pull buckets/mops, carts weighing 25-100 pounds.

4. Stand or walk up to 90 percent of assigned shift to provide housekeeping services.

5. Perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as reaching and grasping when dusting, mopping, scrubbing, and general cleaning.

6. Reaching overhead is required to obtain cleaning supplies stored on shelves or to clean areas overhead.

7. Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions in English..

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Continuous exposure to detergents, chemicals and cleaning agents.

2. Occasional exposure to noises relating to the operation of cleaning machines/scrubbers.

3. Occasional exposure to unpleasant odors related to the care of residents.

4. Occasional exposure to high humidity and seasonal temperatures.

5. Occasional exposure to dust, dirt, fumes and wetness.

Equipment used: Mops/brooms, dust cloth, scrub/bucket, housekeeping cart, and cleaning supplies.

WORKING WEEKENDS: You will be required to work weekends, usually every other weekend, but an extra weekend may be required at times.

ATTENDANCE: You will be given a schedule and you are expected to report to work each day you are scheduled. It is important that you show up for work, because your residents are counting on you to provide them with the care they need. We have a policy on attendance that if not followed will mean that your employment will be terminated.

LUNCH BREAK: You are given a h hour unpaid lunch during your shift and breaks as designed by your supervisor. You are expected to take a full 1/2 hour uninterrupted lunch break. If you are called back on the floor for any work-related reason during your lunch, you must notify your supervisor immediately so we may compensate you for this time.

HOLIDAYS: We recognize seven holidays throughout the year. If you happen to be scheduled on one of these holidays, you will get paid twice your base pay for working that day. You must work your scheduled day before the holiday and your scheduled day after the holiday to receive holiday pay.

CALL-IN REPLACEMENT: From time to time due to unforeseen circumstances, you may be asked to come in on your day off, or to work over for all or part of a shift. You will be paid overtime for any worked time over 40 hours in a one week pay period. This is in addition to any other "extra" pay you may be eligible for such holiday pay. You must have a phone or a reliable way to be reached.

BAD WEATHER: Our work goes on regardless of whether it is snowing or raining. If the weather delays you, you are asked to continue to try to report to work even if you are late. Other staff may have stayed over for your shift until you can make it to work, Most employees make it to work even if they are late!
