Job Summary:

Produce silicon carbide whiskers in accordance with manufacturing specifications and procedures; maintain equipment and implement maintenance programs; lead and guide operators.

Responsibilities:

1. Understand the theory of operation behind each processing step of the conversion and separation of silicon carbide whiskers.

2. Operate and maintain production equipment in area of responsibility, including converters, shredder, boat loader, rice hull mixing and conveying equipment, floor scrubber, mixers, float cells, drum filter, and other equipment related to the conversion/separation process, in accordance with SiCw processing.

3. Lead and train whisker operator(s) in day-to-day duties, such as understanding equipment and processes, observing safety rules, regulations and good work habits, housekeeping of production areas and equipment sufficient to present a clean workplace and minimize potential whisker exposure, and attendance rules and time card completion.

4. Diagnose operating problems and their causes; recommend or make repairs and corrections.

5. Provide material record keeping, preparation of shift summary records, and measurement of time, weight, temperature, and adjustments to equipment.

6. Utilize computer to control equipment and diagnose equipment malfunctions.

7. Inform supervisor of supply needs in a timely manner in order to ensure continuous manufacturing with minimal downtime

8. Rebuild graphite furnaces, including in-house preparation of proprietary components.

9. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, belts, drives, cooling tower, central vacuum equipment, and other manufacturing equipment. Assure that engineering controls and work practices for controlling exposure via inhalation of silicon carbide

Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
