The Award Winning Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Williston, ND/Brutger Equities, Inc., is looking to hire an Assistant General Manager to assist in managing our 79 room hotel. Do you love interacting with customers and guests? Are you self-motivated, highly ambitious and do you have the desire to succeed? Are you looking for a position that has a lot of job variety? Do you have previous hotel management experience? The Assistant General Manager must be able to work a flexible hospitality industry schedule that will include some weekends and at times may include some holidays.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Assistant General Manager works with the General Manager to maintain a customer-driven hotel while inspiring hotel associates to do their best. This person will oversee the quality process to ensure customer satisfaction by consistent delivery of both product quality and service in accordance with hotel's profitability goals. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible to oversee and operate the front desk and hotel to company/franchise standards. The Assistant General Manager oversees all operations of the front desk and staff and assists in the overall hotel operation as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform administrative duties including: reading and writing reports, orally communicating with guests, associates, etc. Supervises the efficiency and customer service delivered at the front desk.
  • Interview, hire supervise and counsel front desk staff in the efficient operation of their respective duties. Meet with, develop and direct all front desk staff to ensure quality of service, product, and profitability.
  • Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and approve discipline of the front desk team.
  • Assist in the overall management of the breakfast operation, Food and Beverage inventories, purchasing, restaurant staffing and training.
  • Maintain a positive public image for the hotel.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Required to work a flexible schedule.
  • Computer proficiency required in hotel property management system.
  • Ability to train and motivate personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of Front Desk and Reservations system and procedures, and franchise standards.
  • Must have strong management and leadership capabilities with the ability to delegate, give direction and set priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and strong detail orientation.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations, remaining calm and demonstrating good judgment and self-control in emergency and difficult situations.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to resolve conflict.
  • Prior Wyndham and Opera experience preferred but not required.
