The Apprentice Terminal Operator is an entry level position who performs tasks involved with becoming a future Grade 4 Terminal Operator (Operator/Mechanic). The Position involves physical labor but is heavily focused on the operation and maintenance of Cement Division equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possess good judgment - must pass the job description physical capacity functions test..
2. High School Diploma or equivalent a must.
3. Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license, Class 3 or higher.
4. Mechanical, Metal Fabrication, Carpentry, Electrical, or other construction maintenance trade experience or Trade School Certification required.
5. Knowledge of basic computer skills to include MS Office programs.
6. Must possess own personal tools to perform required maintenance tasks.
7. Must submit and pass a drug screening and security background check. Obtain a TWIC security card.

Additional Information

1. Performs Grade 1 Labor Tasks.
2. Focuses on learning/certifying/performing to meet Terminal Operator Grade 4 tasks.
3. Assists trade craftsmen with preventive maintenance, repairs and lubrication on assigned equipment. Performs necessary cleaning and basic repairs such as limit switch adjustments and replacing valves to minimize production interruptions. Performs necessary servicing on mobile equipment as needed.
4. Operate Company computer programs in the production, transfer and sales of products.
5. Sacks and desacks cement bags and Super Sacks. Shovels cement and other materials as required.
6. Signal equipment operators and truckers to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
7. Clean and prepare work areas to eliminate potential hazards. Maintains good housekeeping.
8. Load, unload, and identify job site materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations as directed.
9. Works closely with other Hawaiian Cement and subcontractor personnel to optimize production. Must be able to assist with other tasks as required with learning Terminal Operator tasks.
10. Must be able to work effectively on odd shifts with minimal supervision. Must be available and willing to fill in extended hours on short notice as needed.
11. Always works safely and takes action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes and behaviors. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Immediately informs supervisor of safety violations.
12. Must be available for temporary transfer to other departments to do qualified work. Must be able to assist with other tasks as required.
