Position Summary

The Manager of Cargo Operations is an ideal position for an ambitious professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your keen eye for safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence will be instrumental in steering our department forward. This role reports directly to the Regional Manager of Cargo Operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of cargo operations, including personnel, budgets, facility maintenance, equipment, and customer service.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to promote operational excellence and exceptional customer service.
  • Foster a culture of safety by conducting regular inspections of the work environment, reporting potential hazards, and developing actionable mitigation plans.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards set by TSA, Customs (CBP), FAA, DOT, USDA, EPA, and other federal and state regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains ULD inventory.
  • Disseminate and implement Cargo Manuals, Bulletins, and Alerts as needed and perform technical writing tasks as required.
  • Serve as the station’s subject matter expert on the cargo system.
  • Direct, supervise, and enhance the technical proficiencies, computer skills, customer service skills, and cargo procedure knowledge of cargo agents.
  • Administer payroll, scheduling, shift bidding, recruitment, and attendance management for all employees.
  • Coordinates daily operations with Cargo Sales and other cargo locations to meet and maintain service standards.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to station personnel, fostering professional development and driving performance.
  • Ensure all employees are up to date with required training and certifications.
  • Promote a company culture aligned with our purpose and values: Malama, Ho’okipa, Lokahi, and Po’okela.
  • Professional development and other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager or Senior Cargo Management, such as special projects

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in cargo operations or in a related field, with demonstrated understanding of the complexities of cargo operations.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role, showcasing an ability to lead a team and influence others positively through participative and people-centered leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and ability to quickly adapt to other required applications.
  • Successfully complete cargo initial training including cargo system training within three months from first day in role.
  • Must successfully secure necessary airport badging/seals including AOA badge, CBP seal, and ramp license.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively facilitate cross-functional communication and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, efficiently managing multiple tasks to meet pressing deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts and maintain on-call availability to support irregular cargo operations and station needs.

Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $56,000 - $73,000.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, or related field.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role within the cargo industry and managing employees under a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in fostering a culture of safety and compliance in the workplace.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and managing difficult situations effectively.
