Create a learning community in which respect for multilingualism and multiculturalism is fostered.2. Develop an active learning environment in which lectures, exercises, and field trips are combined; grade exams and papers; advise and work with students in groups and individually.3. Keep abreast of developments in field of expertise through reading current literature, interacting with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.4. Perform Program Review and Accreditation tasks, such as researching, preparing, and analyzing data for the assessment of the CP Program.5. Maintain full responsibility of their assigned course(s) by preparing, conducting, assessing, and reporting class/student results to the Office of Student Services. 6. Provide students with research assistance and instruction on the use of computers, the Internet, and subject specific materials both in classroom instruction and one-on-one advising.7. Actively participate in academic and/or administrative committees and meetings that deal with policies of the College, departmental matters, academic issues, curricula, budgets, equipment purchases, and staffing. May serve as chairperson.8. Participate in official school activities and functions such as commencement ceremonies, convocations, students’ presentation days, Chancellor’s Aloha receptions for new students, faculty forums and faculty-staff meetings.9. Complete documentation and communicate with Registrar and Academic Services in a timely manner regarding administrative/support matters (text book orders, submission of course outlines, syllabi, and final grades).10. Teach a minimum of 18 contact hours per week.11. Maintain a posted schedule of office hours.12. Adhere to requirements of incorporating specific objectives and course outcomes for all classes taught in line with institutional outcomes and mission. 13. Undertake special assignments as requested by the Director of CP.14. Perform other job related duties as assigned. Qualifications:1. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in TESL. 2. Previous pre-college level teaching. 3. Strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.4. Knowledge of teaching/learning psychology and methods.5. Knowledge of higher education.6. Must be self-motivated and have a strong desire to pursue and disseminate knowledge. Desired Attributes:1. Experience teaching international students.2. Helpful to have experience in teaching introductory levels of Sociology, American Studies, Earth Science, Communication, and/or World History.3. Community Service
