Hawaii Nursing Solutions is Hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Near Island, HI

Hawaii Nursing Solutions (HNS) is a home care agency continuously seeking experienced: Personal Assistant/Care Aides, Certified Nursing Aides, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses, for our clients with medical and non-medical needs on Oahu. Full-time and part-time positions are available island-wide.

Requirements

  • Current First Aid certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • Two-step TB clearance
  • Criminal background check
  • Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills to write routine reports

Please provide a resume that outlines previous training and experience, qualifications, and three verifiable references. Salary and benefits will commensurate with expertise. It is a plus if you speak more than one language.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduated from an accredited school for Registered Nurses.
  • Must hold current state license with no criminal charges on record or pending.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year hospital, nursing home, or home care experience within the last two (2) years.

Job Responsibilities

Skilled nursing falls within the scope of the State’s Nurse Practice Act and is provided by an RN or an LPN under the supervision of an RN. Skilled nursing activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Aspiration precautions.
  • Catheterization and infection control.
  • Inhalation treatments.
  • Medication management and administration.
  • Ostomy care.
  • Oxygen therapy and aerosolized treatments.
  • Seizure management and precautions, suctioning, tube feeding and management.
  • Wound care requiring sterile procedures.
  • IV (intravenous), shots – IM (intramuscular) and SQ (subcutaneous).
  • Nursing observation and assessment of client and TPN (total parenteral nutrition) feedings in vein.
  • Annually complete all required in-service training (e.g. CPR, BBP).

Vital Signs (VS):

  • Obtain basic measures including blood pressure (BP), respiration, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and intake and output from clients who are stable.

Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

  • Provide basic physical care and comfort measures and assistance with ADLs.

Transferring:

  • Assist client in transporting to chair and/or bed and/or commode and/or wheelchair.

Assessment:

  • Assess the physical, biophysical, and health education needs of clients.
  • Gather pertinent client data using all available resources.

Planning:

  • Establish a nursing plan of care, including pertinent measurable short and long-term goals for clients.

Implementation:

  • Implement interventions appropriate to the age-specific needs of child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric home care clients.
  • Safely and accurately administer medication(s) to clients.
  • Provide client and family education for clients and their families/caregivers.
  • Provide appropriate and safe interventions in emergency situations.
  • Provide the unique communication needs for clients.
  • Perform basic client care procedures as needed for client.
  • Communicate with members of the health care team and other appropriate parties as necessary in the delivery of care.
  • Document nursing care to maintain an accurate and legal medical record
  • Operate specialized equipment as needed for each client.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for clients.
  • Manage the use of restrictive measures necessary to deliver care.
  • May provide in-service training to HNS staff.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Perform gastronomy tube or nasogastric tube feedings and site care for clients requiring G-Tube or NG-Tube.
  • Perform tracheostomy care for clients requiring trach.
  • Assist clients with ambulation.
  • Perform range of motion exercises with clients.

Evaluation

  • Utilize special knowledge of age-specific differences in home care clients to recognize changes in client’s status.
  • Alter the plan of care appropriate to changes in the client’s status.

Physical Demands

  • Requires sitting, standing and some bending and stooping associated with a normal home care client.
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment

  • Working environment is generally favorable; however, there is exposure to risk in the form of disease.
  • High potential for exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Personal protective equipment is required for at-risk procedures.
