Pharmacist I- Pharmacy Department
The primary purpose of this position is to procure and maintain an adequate supply of drugs and pharmaceuticals required for the treatment of a variety of conditions; communicate accurate information about drugs, their actions and usage to other health care professionals and patients; distribute drugs to patients; consult with medical staff members with regard to optimizing a patients treatment regimen. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed by the infant (0-1 year), pediatric (2-10 years), adolescent (11-18 years), adult (19-64 years) and to geriatric (65 years plus) patient groups.
POSITION SUMMARY
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experience is credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate or Pharm.D degree in pharmacy.
Experience: Applicants must possess full-time work experience as a licensed Pharmacist.
General Experience: 6 months of experience as a Licensed Pharmacist.
Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for performing supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities, by detail to supervisory positions, by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments, or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required number of years of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for a position. The applicant's overall experience must have been of such scope and level of responsibility as to conclusively demonstrate that he/she has the ability to perform the duties of the position for which he/she is being considered.
Licensure: A valid license with the State of Hawaii as a Pharmacist at the time of appointment.
Certification: BLS is required within six months of employment.
