Description
Vision and Mission:
At IPES, we CONNECT, INSPIRE, AND EMPOWER...to make a DIFFERENCE!
Core Values:
We, at IPES, work collaboratively to foster a caring community through mutual respect and high expectations.
E Komo Mai! Iroquois Point Elementary School has been helping children discover the joy of learning since 1960. Located 2.5 miles from the Ewa Beach business district, we serve children and families from the Kapilina community. Our student body is drawn from a combination of military and local families, reflecting the ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic diversity of Hawai'i.
Our teachers provide a structured and stimulating place in our air-conditioned classrooms where our students are encouraged to use their creativity and develop their critical thinking skills. IPES faculty and staff strive to meet the individual needs of each student while making learning challenging and fun.
Iroquois Point's curriculum is aligned with the Hawai'i Common Core State Standards and is supported by programs and textbooks that are nationally recognized and research-based. We are pleased to be using the McGraw-Hill Language Arts program, Wonders, in Kindergarten through sixth grade. Our lower elementary teachers also utilize Enhanced Core Reading Instruction (ECRI) to ensure quality instruction in reading foundations.
All teachers will also be using the Go Math program from Houghton Mifflin. In each subject, we emphasize a balanced curriculum that includes authentic learning experiences as well as the acquisition of basic skills. Computers with internet access are available in every classroom and in our computer lab, where students receive group instruction and work on individual projects.
Recognizing the importance of developing the whole child and being balanced learners, IPES utilizes the "Choose Love" curriculum for social and emotional learning (SEL) for our students. Students also have the opportunity to participate in technology, fine arts, physical education, and career and technical education via our IRA teachers. IPES also offers intramural sports including basketball, track, and volleyball for our students in fifth and sixth grade.
We strongly believe in the importance of the home-school connection and provide many opportunities throughout the year for families to gather in the celebration of and support for learning. Activities and meetings are held regularly throughout the year to keep our community and parents informed and involved in our school.
We encourage volunteers from our community, including parents, kupuna, and those with special skills to support our students. Our Parent Community Networking Center (PCNC) serves as a liaison between home and school, providing opportunities for families to get involved in their children's education, as well as working to support the needs of families. Please stop by A-1 if you would like to speak to our PCNC or become an IPES volunteer!
