Examples of Duties

Kapa'a Middle School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Math Teacher to join our
team of educators. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and
implementing a rigorous and engaging mathematics curriculum that supports the
academic and personal growth of middle school students. This position requires a
commitment to fostering positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
while adhering to the principles of successful middle school practices outlined in "The
Successful Middle School: This We Believe" by the Association for Middle Level
Education (AMLE).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Development and Instruction:
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with state
standards and district curriculum guidelines.
  • Utilize varied instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse
learning needs of middle school students.
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance mathematical
understanding and problem-solving skills.
2. Student Engagement and Support:
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all
students feel valued and challenged.
  • Encourage active participation, critical thinking, and mathematical
discourse among students.
  • Provide individualized support and interventions to help struggling
students succeed in mathematics.
3. Family and Community Collaboration:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field (required); Master's

understanding of adolescent development.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Working Conditions:
The Math Teacher will work primarily in a classroom setting within Kapa'a Middle
School, with opportunities for collaboration, professional development, and community
