Have A Nice Clay is a new and dynamic full-service Clay and Paint your own pottery studio. We are committed to providing exceptional experiences for our customers. The Have A Nice Clay Studio Technician will work closely with the clay studio Manager in the upkeep and operations of the clay studio including equipment, chemicals, cleanliness and kiln firings. The technician will help host our fun events and help create a memorable and dynamic party energy for our clients. As part of the Have A Nice Clays art after-school program and summer camps, the technician would be called upon to teach or assist with classes. Technicians will also work with studio members, students, and instructors. Must have flexibility as weekend work is required and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate will be motivated and looking to be a long-term employee who will work hand and hand to improve the functionality and success of the studio. Our expectation is for all our staff to work together to promote a fun and creative experience for the customer. The studio is new and as we grow we look forward to team players who will have the ability to grow with us creatively and financially.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Maintaining studio cleanliness
*Maintaining glaze, chemicals, clay and dry materials
*Maintaining studio stock of recycled clay
*Maintaining Paint Your Own Pottery supplies
*Glazing pottery
*Independently loading and unloading kilns
*Assisting in finishing and firing children's projects for classes and events
*Assist/Teach kids mixed media and clay classes and summer camps
*Assist/Operate special functions and events
*Open and/or close studio.
*Work with Square POS to ring up orders for the customer and to assist with inventory.
*Answer phone to provide accurate information.
*Instruct customer how to start painting their pottery or creating clay pieces.
*Assist with off site events.
*Can work independently without supervision.
*Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
*Must be experienced working with children.
Education- Candidates must have prior experience in ceramic studio operations.
Skills/Abilities
* Ability to be reliable and timely
* Must have flexible schedule.
*Knowledge of ceramics equipment and processes
*Knowledge of loading and firing kilns preferred
**Be able to lift clay bags and maneuver equipment. Willing to use a ladder to stock inventory.
*Must have a clay or art background
* Must be personable and energetic
* Experience working with children. Studio Technician who can also teach children's hand-building is a bonus
*Computer proficiency including, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Calander.
*Social media proficiency

Compensation$16- $22 per hour
Bonus- 25% off Bisque, Kiln usage
