Job Title: Commercial Print Bindery Operator - Day Shift

Position Overview:

This type of opportunity doesn’t come along often. We seek a skilled and experienced bindery operator to join our dedicated team. This will be pivotal in optimizing all bindery operations within our new state-of-the-art printing, fully air-conditioned facility. Hatteras has invested more than 5 million dollars recently on new, fully functioning bindery equipment. We take care of our customers, our employees, our equipment, and our beautiful facility. Hatteras is well known for being the most modern, clean, and organized commercial printing plant in metro Detroit. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

• Operate various bindery equipment, including but not limited to perfect binders, cutters, folders, saddle stitchers, laminating machines
• Set up, adjust, and troubleshoot machines to achieve optimal performance.
• Monitor production runs to maintain consistency and quality standards.

Quality Control:

• Conduct regular checks to ensure print materials meet quality specifications.
• Address any issues with the print or finishing process promptly to maintain high-quality standards.
• Collaborate with the production team to resolve any quality-related issues.
• Maintenance:
• Perform routine maintenance on bindery equipment to ensure its efficient and safe operation.
• Troubleshoot machinery as needed, escalating complex issues to the Plant Manager when necessary.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the pre-press and press operators to ensure a smooth transition of print materials to the bindery stage.
• Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow and meet production deadlines.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Participate in safety training programs and promote a safety culture within the team.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a bindery operator in a fast-paced printing environment.
• Proficient in operating and maintaining various bindery equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Knowledge of different finishing techniques, including cutting, folding, stitching, and binding.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control and precision.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering a positive working environment.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training in printing technology or related field is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Commercial Print Bindery Operator.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
