About the Role:

As a Cloud Architect, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform. A significant aspect of your role will involve collaborating with internal teams and external clients to develop long-term plans that align with organizational goals. You will work closely with cybersecurity to ensure the necessary documentation and architecture diagrams for government approvals, including DoDAF requirements, are provided.. This position requires a SECRET clearance or demonstrated ability to obtain such clearance.

Candidates must be able to obtain a secret-level clearance and be able to be on-site 2-3 times per week

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
  • Develop and communicate future plans for the Cloud Infrastructure team, ensuring they align with organizational goals and JDSAT client needs.
  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity and Accreditation team to provide necessary information for government approvals to operate (e.g., DoDAF Architecture Framework), including architecture diagrams, build plans, and security controls.
  • Coordinate with Application Development teams to ensure infrastructure meets developer requirements and enhances the end-user experience.
  • Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with DoD Enterprise requirements, including adherence to security guidelines and frameworks.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure also acceptable).Extensive experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications with Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with cloud observability and monitoring tools, ensuring infrastructure health and performance.
  • Experience working within a DoD Enterprise environment, with a deep understanding of DoD-specific protocols and requirements.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with Agile or Waterfall methodologies, with the ability to articulate and implement development plans accordingly.
  • Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework activities and a proven track record of supporting compliance efforts.
  • Familiarity with DoD Enterprise security policies and procedures, including the ability to work within secure environments and manage classified information appropriately.
