Summary
The Field Service Technician II must be familiar and able to diagnose and repair most system or problem that occurs for the majority (greater than 50%) of the equipment the company services. The Field Service Technician II works well independently and has a high-level ability to inspect and service customer equipment assuring product performance, addresses and resolves questions and problems regarding products, and conducts training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
· Install, inspect, and start up most equipment at customer sites (if needed) according to specifications and drawings.
· Monitor and/or help with the installation of equipment to ensure that company guidelines and tolerances have been met.
· Service most company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting, and adjusting as needed.
· Use various gauges, meters, tools and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
· Provide technical support to customers over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
· Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product problems to facilitate problem resolution.
· Conduct training and service programs in the operation and maintenance of equipment for customer employees.
· Complete all required records and documentation for customers and for the company.
· Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
· Perform minor welding, fabrication and machining repair.
· Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Required Skills
· Must have 1-2 years of vocation technical training, certificate in electronics, electrical or mechanical areas.
· Must have 3-5 years of technical experience or equivalent (installations and/or field service)
· Must be able to stand for long periods, stoop, kneel and bend at the waist.
· Must be able to climb a 30-foot ladder and be able to life 50 pounds unassisted.
· Must be a self-starter and work well with general supervision.
· Must have solid organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple service needs simultaneously.
· Must have exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
· Must have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, work with a variety of hand and power tools.
· Proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
· Must have electrical knowledge for low voltage wiring, troubleshooting electrical faults, installing motors and reading motor diagrams.
· Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; communicate effectively with customers and teammates.
· Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required. Valid driver’s license required.
