Job Description

Cabinetis a very diverse state agency that directly touches the lives of citizens andtravelers every day. Cabinet services are at work in all 120 counties and12 highway district offices from highways, roads, bridges, vehicle licensing,driver licensing, and highway safety.

Cabinet works closely with officials atevery level to deliver products and services to its citizens, businesses, andgovernment agencies, continuously working towards improvement.

TheDivision of Driver Licensing (DDL) within Cabinet is responsible for theissuance of driver’s licenses, maintaining driver’s records, and managingdriver safety programs.

client DDL works closely with other state agencies,other states, and federal government agencies. Recently, the Department ofHomeland Security enacted federal rules for Real ID issuance and recordkeeping.

Cabinet must enact these rules to issue federally complaint driverlicenses before October 2021.Tomeet the increased demand, DDL has an immediate need for a group of exceptionalindividuals to join our organization as Driver License Support Specialists.

The rollout of a new digitized license computer system across the statewill require travel to issuance locations to all sections of the state.

In this position, there may be opportunities for advancement within theDivision of Driver Licensing. The DL Support Specialists will be assigned amobile unit and be required to travel to varying locations throughout the stateissuing licenses.

These locations will include manufacturing centers,libraries, prisons and other local areas in need of Driver’s Licenseservices.

The candidate will not be expected to utilizetheir own vehicle. Position Overview : Themain focus of this project will be to learn the new digitized driver licenseissuance requirements and DDL state and federal rules which include REAL ID,Commercial Driver License, and National Driver Register.

The successfulcandidates will review and analyze secure documents of driver licenseapplicants and personal information. The successful candidate must be able topass federal fingerprint background checks and they must conduct themselvesprofessionally with employees and citizens.

Primary Responsibilities / Required Skills :

• Candidate may be called upon to be a Lead Role
• Candidate will help open new offices
• Candidate must be able to travel, with overnight stays
• Candidate should have customer service experience serving both internal and external customers
• Candidate must be able to work well with others in a team environment, assisting them as needed
• Candidate will process complex non-US citizen applications by screening all original documents presented
• Candidate must have a high level of accountability
• Candidate must handle cash and deposits
• Candidate must be able to inspire and lead others through their enthusiasm
• Must possess interpersonal skills required to work with many different clients
• Must be professional, supportive, diplomatic, flexible, and responsible
• Candidate must be able to learn and utilize the KY Driver's License Information System (KDLIS) / IDEMIA issuance program and be able to read and interpret a driver’s history record
• Candidate must be able to balance end of day reports, including handling of cash
• Candidate must become very knowledgeable of Driver Licensing laws and policies
• Candidate must learn Commercial Driver Licensing laws and licensing processes
• Advise applicants on their questions and concerns related to driver licensing
• Overtime may be necessary, up to 10 hours per week
• Evening or Saturday hours may be required on occasion
• Candidate will perform any other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements :

Should be a graduate of a college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree; or a graduate of a college or university with an Associate’s Degree;

or administrative, business, research, and / or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
