We buy, sell and deliver fresh, high quality protein products and other foods to over 6,000 retail and foodservice customers.
General Summary:
The Field Marketing Representative works with the sales organizations of multiple company divisions to achieve maximum sales and profitability through new account development as well as further development of existing accounts within the assigned territories. Will develop a working knowledge of the company’s products and or related services and as the face to the customer, will deliver such information in a compelling and professional marketing/sales manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assesses customer needs and identifies most suitable products for prospective customers through a product knowledge and relationship-based approach.
  • Demonstrates products and services to existing/potential customers and assists them in selecting those best suited to their needs.
  • Establishes, develops, and maintains business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory/market to generate new and ongoing business for Harvest’s products/services.
  • Develop customer relationships through telephone conversation and in-person visits to existing and prospective customers.
  • Research sources for developing prospective customers by securing information relative to location count, volume, and relative marketing area to determine business potential.
  • Develops good working knowledge of all Harvest products and conveys necessary content in an efficient but compelling manner, keying on demonstrable points of difference such as quality and service.
  • Develops clear and effective written presentations/proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
  • Expedites the resolution of customer problems and complaints.
  • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups.
  • Analyzes the territory/market’s potential and determines the value of existing and prospective customer’s value to the organization.
  • Creates and manages a customer value plan for existing customers highlighting profile, share and value opportunities.
  • Provides management with oral and written reports regarding customer needs, problems/opportunities, interests, and competitive pressures to determine potential for new products and services.
  • Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising, and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent industry literature, periodicals and frequent interface with internal marketing and technical service areas.
  • Participates in trade shows and conventions where beneficial to Harvest.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have at least five years of retail Meat Department Management experience.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) desired
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers.
  • Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible work hours and substantial travel required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
