Full Job Description

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher with the general oversight and management of the classroom, including teaching the curriculum in fun and creative ways. This role helps the Lead Teacher ensure and enforces the daycare rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. This position helps ensure that the activities provided for the children are done safely in a warm, nurturing environment.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

· Classes in child care

· Some experience in a childcare setting (preferred).

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Able to model and demonstrate the Christian faith.
• Supports the Lead Teacher execute the curriculum provided through planned activities that develop the spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of a child.
• Maintain a neat, organized, inviting classroom that appeals to the children and parents.
• Assist and supervise the children in accomplishing daily routines, i.e. naps, meals, bathroom, and dressing,
• Use positive discipline techniques prescribed by the center policy and taught in staff training.
• Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
• Display knowledge of emergency procedures for accidents or bad weather.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Be able to follow directions and make good judgments.
• Perform any reasonable duties requested by the Director or the Assistant Director.

Additional Candidate Requirements:

• Able to pass a background check.
• Able to perform physical tasks and activities and move children up to 50 pounds (if needed).
• Able to supervise and interact daily with children outdoors for extended periods in varied weather conditions.
• Able to always remain calm and compassionate.
