Harvard University is Hiring an Assistant Director, Program Delivery, Executive Education Near Boston, MA

Position Description

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Program Delivery, Executive Education at Harvard Business School, the Assistant Director plays a key role in the management of the program delivery teams, ensuring the successful execution of programs, and ongoing professional development of the overall program delivery staff. Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage projects, collaborating closely with key stakeholders, and delivering results that will significantly impact program operations and the broader delivery team. Projects will vary in scope and complexity, and will be assigned on an ongoing basis, providing continuous opportunities for growth and leadership.
  • Supervises two to five program managers, serving as a point person to problem-solve and troubleshoot program-related issues, while maintaining consistency across programs.
  • Defines and communicates work standards and performance expectations, providing ongoing and timely feedback.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships through open and ongoing communication with all Program Directors, ensuring a cohesive and effective partnership with the program delivery teams.
  • Leads and guides delivery teams navigating ongoing implementation of new initiatives within Executive Education that result in new processes, new and innovative program components, and evolving delivery models.
  • Assesses complex situations, identifying opportunities, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborates and develops strategies to increase staff engagement with the goal of increasing tenure, staff morale, and sense of purpose and motivation among the team, aligned with Executive Education (ExEd )Hoshin Kanri goals.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains an enhanced operational strategy that ensures scalability across the various and expanding program models, new delivery formats, and ongoing content initiatives.
  • Administers a department-wide communication strategy.
  • Advises and influences development of training resources, providing ongoing feedback to the training team, supporting the success of the Learning Lab.
  • Provides ongoing coaching, communicating and motivating staff around new processes and policies.
  • Manages programs on an as needed basis, providing coverage when short staffed, or covering leaves.
  • This role is also responsible for other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience

  • Project management experience is a must, with proven ability to guide, lead, and develop project management skills in others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative work within a team-based model.
  • Demonstrated success building partnerships at all levels within an organization and with other key stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to the changing needs of the business, and the ability to lead others through change.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and teams in a fast paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Proven leadership skills in motivating and engaging staff, enhancing morale, fostering professional development, and supporting staff retention.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated to learn, drive innovation, and flexible to change.
  • Prior experience in higher education preferred.

Additional Information

The first 90 days of employment you will be required to be onsite. This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 2 days per week when a program is not in-session. This role is required to be onsite for the entire duration of a program when in-session. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager..
