Hello! We are the Whited Lab @ Harvard University, looking for a reliable individual with a willingness to learn to work on our team of aquarium animal caretakers for our Axolotls (they're cute aquatic salamanders!). The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day needs of our Axolotls are met, including but not limited to:

• Daily feeds and food preparation
• Animal health checks
• Tank scrubs
• Siphoning
• Perform regular checks and routine maintenance on recirculating systems
• Perform regular water quality checks and ensure that all parameters (salinity, temperature, ph, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia) are within proper boundaries

You will be working as a part of a team of caretakers, with flexible hours at a maximum of 40h/week for the first 3 months, then maximum 14h/week for the remainder of the position. This is a non-benefitted position. At the moment our scheduling priority is weekday afternoons, but we are flexible to your schedule as well (within 8am - 6pm). We may ask you to work weekends but not a requirement for the position.

• Able to read & write effectively (labeling etc.)
• Cares about animal-wellbeing
• Good communication skills

Some experience in animal care (pets etc.) are preferred, but not necessary - we will teach you anything you need to know to succeed!

Please be mindful that while this job will be in the vicinity of animals undergoing research (surgeries, drug testing etc.), you will not be expected to perform any research/surgeries on these animals. Your main objective will be to raise and take care of animals, and keep them as happy and healthy as possible!
