Job Summary :

Harvard Maintenance is looking to hire a qualified full-time Painter. This person will be responsible for all preparation, painting, and light repair work on the interior and exterior areas of all buildings on campus.

The Painter will perform duties such as spraying ceilings, organizing paint materials, and coordinating paint / repair jobs with other departments and locations.

We are looking for a dedicated employee with a strong work ethic and excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills to help support our janitorial services team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Daily preparation and cleaning of the jobsite to ensure safe productive day to produce a quality paint job. Erects and removes ladders and lifts as necessary.
• Evaluate condition of the surface to be covered and select a surface preparation technique and material consistent with the type and condition of surface, coating material applied, exposure and expected condition of use.
• Clean and prepare surfaces to be painted by use of sandpaper, burners, scrapers, brushes, sanding machines, sandblasters, washing and dusting.

Fills nail holes, joints, and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.

• Coordinate with departments and locations when preparing for a painting job.
• Organize and maintain all paints and materials related to painting.
• Use paper or tape guns.
• Create color samples to determine proper matching of colors and mix and thin paint per paint codes.
• Determines methods of application and applies paint or other coatings with brush, roller or spray gun to the exterior and interior of buildings, to furniture, to signs, to structural steel, and / or to equipment.
• Finish surfaces using sandpaper, pumice, wax and other materials.
• Performs incidental related duties such as glazing, wall covering, drywall repair / replacement, sanding, taping, spackling, repairing plaster, and cement work.
• Other maintenance duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience in janitorial services or related field
• Strong communication skills
• Must be willing to work assigned hours
• Knowledge and experience in painting, drywall, wallpaper, power sprayers, sanders, and lifts preferred
• The ability to follow through and carry out assignments, using problem solving skills and sound judgment
• Has knowledge of application techniques
• Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
• Plan work and select proper tools

Physical Demands of Work Environment :

• Must be physically able to bend, stoop, climb and reach
• The ability to lift large, heavy (25-50 and bulky items, stand, bend, stoop and lift for long periods of time, ability to climb a 10 or 20-foot ladder if necessary, and work in confined areas.
• Must be able to lift, move and use containers of water, cleaning fluids, and paint supplies
• Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely
• Must be able to work at heights without fear
• Work outdoors in all changing weather condition in geographical area
• Standing and / or walking, sitting, stooping, or kneeling

Compensation

Harvard is offering an hourly rate of $00.00 / hour to start with benefit package including options for medical, dental, life and long-term disability (LTD) insurance plan options along with 401K Savings Plan.
