Position: Mental Health Clinician / Clinical Social Worker - Alternative Program

Summary: The Mental Health Clinician or Clinical Social Worker provides direct, clinical services to children with emotional disturbance. Provided clinical services occur in building-based therapeutic classrooms as well as in individual psycho-therapeutic interventions. The clinician works in partnership with the other mental health clinician, classroom teachers, and classroom counselors to implement educational and therapeutic interventions. This role will have a primary focus on crisis intervention, descelation and milieu support. The candidate should have a comfort with risk assessment and safety planning or the ability to be trained in both under direct supervision of the clinical director.

The Hartford School District (HSD) Clinical Director and Special Education Director provide ongoing training for the mental health counselor.

The mental health counselor is evaluated and supervised jointly by The Wilder School principal, The Wilder School Clinical Director, and the HSD Director of Special Education.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must hold a minimum of a Master's Degree in clinical social work, or clinical mental health counseling. They must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Vermont.
• Candidate must have experience supporting students in an educational and/or therapeutic setting
• Candidate must possess strong clinical skills in understanding developmental trauma and emotional disturbances

Job Functions:

• Participates in Crisis Intervention situations and conducts student safety assessments
• Design in-classroom support plans that best meet the needs of the students
• Support staff in understanding and utilizing in-classroom interventions and support plans
• Engage of de-escalation of individual students in the classroom
• Earn certification in CPI de-escalation model
• Ability to support in rule 4500 physical restraints when needed for the safety of the students
• Participate in Post-Critical incident processing meetings
• Participate in Crisis Response Team
• Conducts one-on-one and group therapy for students
• Create and implement therapeutic treatment plans
• Participates in all required trainings provided by the Hartford School District, The Wilder School principal, The Wilder School Clinical Director
• Participates in student team meetings, progress update meetings, IEP meetings, Evaluation planning meetings, Eligibility meetings, transition meetings and all other meetings as assigned by The Wilder School principal and/or The Wilder School Clinical Director
• Communicates and collaborates with students’ families to bridge the gap between school and home
• Execute all other duties as assigned by the principal and the clinical director of The Wilder School

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $43,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
