POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs general maintenance work primarily with facility infrastructure, grounds maintenance and repairs. The job includes landscape work for a large production plant where food safety is a consideration. The job also includes work needed to ensure compliance with government regulations for agricultural worker housing and satellite facilities that support Orchard operations. This position provides repair and maintenance to buildings, irrigation systems, propane heating/ frost systems, drinking water delivery systems, and orchard and campus landscaping. In addition, this position will also provide support during harvest operations and seasonal housing operations as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide general maintenance and repair of orchard buildings, fencing and barriers, vegetative buffer plantings, irrigation and propane frost/heating systems and other facilities/campus-related infrastructures.
• Provide general maintenance and care of the Harry & David campus landscape, including mowing, pruning, edging, planting, weeding, fertilizing and chemical pest and weed control.
• Repair and custodial maintenance of seasonal housing which includes, but is not limited to tasks involving cleaning, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, devices and cabinetry. Will assist in preparation of recommendations for needed repairs to Orchard facilities and assist in review of contracted facilities work with ability to read blueprints and/or schematic.
• Makes purchases, or requisition through Facilities Manager, of needed repair and maintenance materials.
• Inspect and repair orchard ladders and document the work completed.
• Follow company policies and procedures including adherence to safe work practices.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Landscape experience or horticulture is preferred.
• Previous experience operate orchard and landscape power equipment such as, pick-ups small tractors, chippers, trenchers, fruit hauling trucks, ATV/UTV's, mowers, sweepers, tillers and front-end loaders preferred.
• Experience with operation of maintenance-related hand tools such as loppers, pruners, chain saws, leaf blowers, weed eaters, cultivators, and hedge trimmers required.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, during inclement weather in an outdoor orchard environment.
• Lift, push, pull, up to50lbs.
• Must pass a Driver Record Review.
• Must pass a Background Check.
• This is asafety sensitive position,subject to initial and follow-up drug testing.
• Bilingual-English is preferred.
