Duties include supporting curriculum alignment with content standards; evaluating and monitoring certified and educational support personnel; and supervising and encouraging appropriate student behavior, student success, and/or athletics/activities. Responsible for overseeing the assigned high school’s athletic and extra-curricular activities programs. Work in close cooperation with Coaches, Activity Sponsors, and state athletic/activities association to provide quality interscholastic athletic and extra-curricular activity programs with established rules and guidelines. Promote strong relations and partnerships among school, parents, students, community, and stakeholders.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support curriculum alignment with content standards through teacher observations and/or through curriculum committee work. Analyze and use student assessment data to drive instruction, make recommendations regarding policy, and communicate with stakeholders.Evaluate, appraise, mentor, monitor, and provide feedback to certified staff, classified staff, coaches and activity sponsors to support planning, instruction, engagement, and assessment. Provide leadership for the professional growth of the instructional staff and educational support personnel through in-service programs, goal development and monitoring, and recommendation and support of educational/training opportunities.Schedule or approve scheduling of school sponsored events including athletic contests. Schedule and coordinates the use of school facilities, including auditorium, gymnasium, pool, outdoor fields, and/or stadium and coordinate transportation needs for all activities and athletic events. Manage, supervise, and interpret activities budget.Monitor student behavior and assign and enforce consequences to maintain an academic environment conducive to student achievement and to guide student behavior modification. Coordinate and attend expulsion hearings as needed.Support and promote student achievement and progress through student conferences, interventions, and school-based support systems. Develop and administer guidelines and procedures for student achievement, growth, and special recognition and implement, administer, and monitor the Response to Intervention (RTI) process. May be responsible for supervising and planning athletics/activities to promote well-rounded students.Respond to parent, student, stakeholder, and community concerns/questions and promote positive public relations. Encourage school/parent/student/community partnerships in providing for the educational needs of the student. Prepare and submit reports and requests for information, including student athlete eligibility reports.Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, outdoors, on/off the bus, parking lot, and/or during extra-curricular activities. Supervise or arrange supervision of all home and away events.Ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at all times, including developing, implementing, and instructing others on crisis prevention and procedures; supervising and providing direction for the proper inspection, maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of the buildings and grounds; and planning, organizing, and implementing fire and disaster drills and other emergency procedures.Actively participate in professional organizations, committees, and professional development opportunities.Assist Principal with hiring certified, educational support personnel, and co-curricular staff.Develop contracts for event staff, Coaches, Sponsors, officials, and inter-school competitions. Communicate with CHSAA (Colorado High School Activities Association) regarding student eligibility, coaching, certifications, and policy compliance.Perform other duties as may be assigned.Education, Training and Experience: Master's Degree plus additional coursework required for certification or licensureFour years' teaching experience at the secondary level preferred. Valid Colorado Principal License.First Aid, CPR, and concussion training preferred.Advanced oral and written communication, English language, interpersonal relations, customer service, public relations, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and supervisory/management skills. Basic math and accounting skills. Strong personal computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills.Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job. Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations. Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and multiple priorities. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendent, building, and department policies and procedures.Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.Directly supervises certified teachers and educational support personnel (e.g., secretarial, clerical, paraprofessional, maintenance, custodial, and/or security personnel), Athletic Coaches and Activity Sponsors at assigned school.Criminal background check and District fingerprinted required.Application Procedure:Apply online at www.hsd2.org to complete an online application.
