JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities of this position are machine preventative maintenance activities, machine repair, and a limited amount of bulk material blending production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • The Maintenance Crew Leader will manage a team of at least two maintenance workers. Team size will increase as business warrants.
  • Hire and train maintenance workers from temp to perm.
  • Coordinate daily preventative maintenance (PM) activities per the PM procedures and schedule.
  • Coordinate repairs of forklifts, yard dog, donkeys, sweepers, and other machines as needed.
  • Coordinate housekeeping activities on the upper floors of the production process.
  • Coordinate mixer, screen, and pipe cleanouts on a set schedule.
  • During peak production weeks this team will build 1-3 bulk loads for spec-ag customers as a supplement to regular production.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies and programs.
  • Maintain valid licenses, certifications and/or permits required to perform responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma minimum
  • Welding and/or mechanic training preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of three years in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role (having a minimum of two workers under their supervision).
  • Skid steer experience a plus.
  • Preferred experience in the fertilizer industry.
  • Minimum three years forklift operation experience. Current licensing is a plus.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Must have a well-rounded mechanical skillset working on all types of industrial equipment.
  • Must have good supervisory skills managing the tasks of team members.
  • Must be organized, self-motivated and can work independently.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
  • Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach and use arms to manipulate small objects.
  • Mobility inside the plant – Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend, and lift up to 100 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Work is routinely performed in a general warehouse environment on a concrete surface, with frequent exposure to both internal and external environment.
  • Frequent exposure to severe weather conditions, both heat and cold.
  • Frequent exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
  • Must wear steel-toed boots.
  • Recommended: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire as noted by guides provided in specific areas. These will be provided by Harrell’s upon request.
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn in accordance with SDS recommendations.
HOURS OF THIS POSITION:
  • Noon - 9 pm (with an hour for lunch)
