HarperCollins Publishers is Hiring a Manager of Contract Administration Near Nashville, TN

Overview

HarperCollins Christian Publishing, the largest Christian publisher in the world, is looking for a sharp contracts professional to join our team. The Manager of Contracts Administration will be responsible for the entire author contract process from drafting through execution.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

Verify supporting financials, draft, negotiate terms as appropriate, and finalize publishing acquisition, contributor, work for hire and other agreements for single and multi-book contracts for several publishing imprints. This requires knowledge and understanding of book publishing contract language and the business and legal repercussions of any changes thereto.

Assist publishers and editors with negotiation of deal points, interpretation of contractual language, and termination of contracts.

Ensure compliance of contractual terms with corporate policies.

Additionally:

Assist teammate(s) as necessary.

Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of legal contracts required. Knowledge of book publishing contracts strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in the contracts department of a book publisher or agency.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the publishing industry is strongly preferred. Familiarity with Christian publishing is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proven success managing multiple priorities and a high volume of work in an accurate, timely manner
  • Ability to look at the big picture when drafting publishing agreements
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to function on independent basis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet responsibilities and deadlines
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Professional

Our preference is to fill this role in Nashville, TN however we are open to candidates outside the Nashville area.

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$80,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
