Job Title: Medical Assistant/Technician
Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant/Technician is an essential team member responsible for supporting the medical/clinical staff and ensuring the (smooth) well-ordered/efficient operation medical section (of our facility). This role encompasses a range of administrative and clinical/medical tasks, aimed at maintaining high standards of patient care and fostering a therapeutic environment, in a substance abuse and behavioral health context.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, particularly in substance abuse or behavioral health settings, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in taking vital signs and conducting basic physical assessments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to create a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere for patients.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Familiarity with substance abuse disorders and behavioral health treatment protocols.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with medical/clinical staff.
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assume additional responsibilities as needed.
- Conducting urine drug screens.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Support the intake process by collecting and updating patient information.
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare (?) them for appointments.
- Perform basic physical assessments and record vital signs as directed by the clinical medical team.
- Assist clinicians/medical providers with procedures and treatment interventions.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate with patients for treatment plans.
- Handle patient inquiries in-person and over the phone, addressing their needs with professionalism and empathy.
