The Production Manager is responsible for the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, typically for an entire manufacturing site, including Shipping. This position typically manages Team Leaders and Department Supervisors, but also interacts daily with all manufacturing personnel and other Harmar departments.

Requirements

  • Oversee day-to-day production, operational, and plant activities.
  • Coach and develop individuals to assemble, build and produce product that effectively and safely serves the
  • customer expectations.
  • Train and coach facility personnel to understand and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices, FDA, Harmar and
  • other policies and procedures.
  • Conduct/attend daily start-up and safety meetings while creating a positive work environment exhibiting our core values.
  • Coordinate OSHA and plant safety requirements, lead, attend and participate in facility safety and management meetings
  • and audits.
  • Follow and enforce company safety polices and safe work practices to ensure safety of self and others.
  • Oversee subordinates to ensure shift goals and quality expectations are consistently achieved and documented.
  • Coordinate personnel schedules to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Work with necessary plant personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process related obstacles.
  • Help update and maintain visual performance tools, including mission control and MDI boards.
  • Conduct cycle time analysis, time studies, work balance/flow improvements, work-place analysis, and improvement.
  • Ensure audit and material traceability procedures are being followed throughout the facility.
  • Review and develop recommendations to facility management to promote 5s, Standard Work, Kaizen, and continual
  • improvement of all processes.
  • Responsible for the physical operation of the manufacturing plant and offsite warehouses; ensures that the building,
  • equipment, and land are properly maintained.
  • Responsible for processing plant adherence to budget and expense controls.
  • Set department objectives/key performance indicators (KPI’s) and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and address’s any problems that arise on the production line.
  • Assist with physical inventory.

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in a non-climate controlled warehouse.

Work Experience:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years manufacturing supervision experience/management of personnel and processes in the manufacturing setting with use of assembly equipment.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and in-depth knowledge of processing equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and the ability to lead team to constant lean improvements.
  • Proficient in use of computer and MS Office Suite.

Education:

  • BS Degree in Management or equivalent experience in manufacturing-related field.
  • Emphasis in Operations Management preferred.
  • Training in Lean manufacturing concepts and implementation of such processes.
  • Training in” 5S” approach to plant cleanliness and organization.
  • Proficient in use of ERP software for production control.
