Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) Promise Academy – a top-performing K-12 charter school within HCZ’s cradle-to-career pathway of comprehensive services – seeks a K-12 Educational Training and Development Coaches for Promise Academy Elementary, Middle, and High School. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 6 years of teaching experience required
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in an administrative/supervisory position
  • Must have a valid New York State Teaching Certification
  • Must be able to demonstrate successful teaching experience and administrative experience
  • Extensive coursework experience in curriculum development

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for training and developing a caseload of new and existing K-12 teachers.
  • Identify areas of alignment, misalignment, and how we can transfer effective ideas occurring in isolation across all schools.
  • Model effective teaching practices for staff.
  • Collect observation data to provide targeted feedback and support to teachers.
  • Compile survey data from staff regarding their training needs and interests.
  • Compile informal and formal observation data directly and from principals regarding the strengths and weaknesses of their staff.
  • Help design effective training programs and materials that align with the team’s goals and school vision.
  • Provide additional follow-up workshops for those in need of additional support.
  • Create tiered support for teachers.
  • Provide intellectual development to staff on targeted areas as diagnosed by the principals, education directors, and curriculum team (book studies, speaker events, online resources, texts, articles, etc.).
  • Organize and recommend information about external workshops attended by staff.
  • Build strong relationships with teaching staff.
  • Compile survey data from staff regarding feedback on workshops.
  • Generate key points from each internal and external training opportunity.
  • Collaborates with Principals and Education Directors to develop staff
  • Oversees the development and support of teaching assistants and teaching fellows.
  • Provides supplemental instruction to scholars in need during extended learning opportunities.

Special Considerations

  • Support content-specific teams in the development and implementation of
  • curriculum materials and assessments on a need basis.
  • Support the monitoring and evaluation of state assessments administered by
  • the schools.
  • Support the effective collection/warehousing of student performance data as
  • Have an active role in ad hoc committees related to teacher development.

Supervises: No direct reports
