HARIBO of America is hiring a Area Retail Manager / Retail Operations Manager as we prepare to launch our first HARIBO retail stores in the United States. This is an exciting time in organization as we continue to grow. You know HARIBO, the world known leader in gummi candies! We are planning on opening our first handful of specialty, small-box retails stores in the U.S. and are seeking an Area Manager / Retail Operations Manager to help lead this launch and oversee these stores.This role will be based at our corporate offices in Rosemont, Illinois and will be responsible for overseeing the opening of our first handful of small-box specialty retail stores in the United States. Area Retail Manager / Retail Operations Manager responsibilities include executing retail plans, leading new store openings, retail operations management, inventory management, loss prevention, merchandising, achieving operational and sales objectives for our retail stores, embracing the role of Area Manager directly overseeing a handful of new stores and retail store associates, training and mentoring store associates, as well as driving the selling, merchandising, and distribution efforts at store level.As we prepare to launch our first retail stores in the U.S. later this year, the Area Retail Manager / Retail Operations Manager responsibilities will also include forecasting, ordering of items including store equipment for new store openings, ordering merchandise and ensuring proper stock levels, vendor management, assist with developing distribution targets, new item speed to shelf, and leading new store openings, training and mentoring store associates, ensuring successful store openings and prosperous store operations. The original and iconic Goldbears, created in 1922, have delighted kids and grown-ups for over 100 years!   • Lead retail store launch for our first handful of HARIBO of America retail stores in the United States
  • Oversee daily retail store operations including budget, cash handling, scheduling, sales performance, inventory management, and loss prevention
  • Executive retail plans to ensure effective and successful retail store operations
  • Lead and partner with Corporate on new retail store openings and launch, hiring and training of staff in specialty, small-box retail with high-touch customer focus
  • Negotiate vendor agreements in compliance with commercial policy and monitor their operational implementation within United States
  • Retail operations management including ordering merchandise and ensuring proper stock levels, assist with developing distribution targets, new item speed to shelf,
  • Domestic travel to multiple HARIBO retail store locations, with overnight stays, throughout the United States, potentially coast-to-coast
  • Cultivate relationships with customers and the local community
Qualifications:
  • 7 years of retail store operations experience
  • 3 years of experience in retail management, overseeing and responsible for store operations, supervising direct reports in a high-volume retail consumer goods environment
  • Prior experience opening, or being involved with the opening, of a new retail store location 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in retail software systems, POS / Point-Of-Sale systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • High School Diploma
  • Prior experience managing and ordering inventory in a retail environment
  • Ability to work occasional weekends as needed
  • Valid Driver's license 
  • Ability to travel 40% of the time, or more based on needs of the business, with multiple nights of overnight stays
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for a well-known, household name consumer “brand” within the specialty retail industry
  • Prior experience working in candy/confectionary focused retail store
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or related field
  • SAP experience
  • Knowledge of product and categories related to candy and/or confectionary goods
Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to adapt to fast moving and changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment
  • Ability to hold others accountable for HARIBO’s high standards
