Hargrove Engineers Constructors is Hiring a Field Engineer Near Memphis, TN

What You'll Be Doing

Hargrove is hiring a Field Engineer to join our team on-site in Memphis, TN. This position offers a highly competitive compensation package, including paid time off, health insurance benefits, and matching retirement contributions. APPLY TODAY! 

Job Summary: Generally responsible for managing the day-to-day interface between the Contractors and the Project Team. Manages assignment with minimal leadership involvement or assistance. Assumes leadership monitoring and reporting for assigned tasks. Develops awareness of contractors and types of work. Ensures proper auditing in all aspects of work and safety. Responsible for communications with contractors.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manages and monitors assigned construction activities.
  • Responsible and accountable for contractor safety, productivity, quality, and schedule on assigned projects. Ensuring that the contractors are following the site environmental and safety rules with emphasis on the lifesaving rules. A clear understands of basic contract administration principles.
  • Coordinates with plant operations and plant maintenance to assure that it is safe to proceed with the construction efforts.
  • Issues and coordinates permits to assigned contractors. The Unit Operator will approve and sign off on the permits.
  • Reviews and understands the Engineering Design Packages, Scope of Work, and Schedule. Ensures that Contractors are in compliance with the project’s requirements.
  • Conducts and participates in safety audits, safety meetings and site safety programs
  • Follow through with RFI’s and Change Orders.
  • Participates with reviewing the construction schedule to monitor construction progress.
  • Reviews and approves contractor’s invoices and confirms the receipt of goods and services
  • Approves time sheets for time and material contracts
  • Maintains the project punch lists to ensure the timely completion of the projects and for adherence to the project scope of work
  • Coordinates the project turnover documents and ensures that changes and updates are properly documented. Makes sure that the changes are properly Red Lined on the drawings,
  • Participates with project closeout, post project critiques and contractor evaluations

Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Licensing: No licensing is required for this position.

Experience: This position requires a minimum 5 years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft software applications including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Project, and SharePoint.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled and on short notice.
  • Willing and able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Willing to work from heights including towers, scaffolding and platforms.
  • Able to prioritize work based on project needs.
  • OSHA Regulations knowledge – OSHA 30 certificate
  • First Aid CPR AED Certified
  • Leadership and Safety experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs, and hard hat.
