Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Structural Engineering PE for Louisiana is required.
Experience: This position requires 10 or more years of relevant Civil / Structural Engineering working in a chemical plant or refinery setting.
Job Summary: The Civil / Structural Engineer role is a critical part of the Engineering and Construction organization. The overall function of the Civil / Structural Engineer is to provide civil and structural engineering support to the Site Engineering and Construction group to complete capital project work. The Civil Structural Engineer is responsible for the creation of drawings and specifications, perform calculations, review the work of other engineers / drafters, write reports and evaluations, and observe construction sites. They will also be the primary contact with the State Fire Marshal and is responsible for the coordination of the submission and inspection of any new occupied buildings or fire alarm or suppression changes. The Civil Structural Engineer requires work at a high level of independence with authority for decision-making on daily work assignment and control. Work at this level requires extensive experience in civil and structural engineering.
Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Knowledge and application of the International Building Code and associated standards (ASCE, AISC, ACI, etc.)
• Expertise with civil/structural analysis software including operating and interpreting results.
• Knowledge of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct process and manufacturing projects.
• Proficiency with MS Office products
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
• Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices
• Extreme attention to detail
• Possesses a comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines
• Effective communication and organizational skills
