What You'll Be Doing Job Scope: Perform tasks related to cost control functions of a large capital project such as tracking, forecasting, analyzing, reporting on projects, and other activities to effectively control the cost, schedule, and scope of the project in order to maintain control and mitigate risks to the project. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Reconciliation and audit of invoices relative to services received and contractor cost reports, agreed billing rates and terms and conditions. Input actual costs into project cost reports in preparation for Project Manager’s review and forecasting of final costs. Update individual project cost reports for actual cost to date. Monitor contractors project controls systems (Cost Reports, Productivity Analysis, Forecasts, etc.) to ensure costs are being managed within the approved Project funding and/or requests. Validate contractor cost reports ensure incorporated into overall Project Cost Reports. Interface with Project Accountant and Client Accountant. Ability to learn to analyze and compile data that may have an influence on costs, efficiencies, trends, etc. Such factors include labor, materials, subcontracts, special machinery requirements and location. Prepare cash flows and spend plans for estimates. Communicate and interface with all other project team members. Assist in preparing routine and/or special request reports per established instructions, department procedures and deadlines. Assist cost engineers in compiling cost data, preparing costs and manpower forecasts, etc. May calculate/prepare material to validate installed vs. estimated quantities, comparison reports, charts, and tables for analysis. Administrative duties associated with day-to-day routine activities designed to provide practical application of cost methods. Perform other job-related duties, as assigned. Ideal Background Education: Bachelors degree in accounting/finance or related field Certification: No certification is required for this position. Experience:This position requires 5 years of project controls experience or 10 years of project controls (or related) experience in lieu of degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed. Detailed knowledge of cost estimating, cost analysis and other basic project support Refining/petrochemical industry field-related experience in controls, planning, scheduling, and estimating preferred Detailed knowledge of cost estimating, cost analysis, and other basic project support Advanced mathematical, analytical and technical skills Advanced computer skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Primavera (P6), and SAP Physical Requirements: Ability to reach, stand, walk, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear, see and to perform repetitive motions. Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
