What You'll Be Doing Job Summary: Generally responsible for total delivery of services safely, on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations on moderately complex projects. Work at this level requires progressive experience in construction management and involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision. Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Familiarity with and utilizing department standards. Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a task. Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements, with a commitment to a zero accidents environment. Ability to ensure contractor’s activities are planned and executed with safety first. Responsible for the safe performance of all contractors on the assigned project. Consulting with design leaders, then following up for support to ensure efficient progress and quality of technical contractual activities on one or more projects of various sizes. Promoting continued relationships with clients. Participating in field construction efforts, design phase services and all subcontracting as well as participating in all major technical, cost, scheduling and performance decisions. Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly. Providing on-site assistance during startup. Coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Consulting with design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project. Advising the senior engineer concerning design or scope changes, which have been identified. Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for input. Reviewing construction specifications. Reviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications. Coordinating contractor activities to avoid lost time due to problem resolutions or lack of direction. Monitoring contractor resource assignments to ensure that the correct numbers of resources are assigned to the work. This position offers a highly competitive compensation package, including paid time off, health insurance benefits, and matching retirement contributions. Ideal Background Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is highly preferred. Licensing: General Contractors License is highly preferred. Experience: This position requires a minimum 10 years of relevant industrial construction management or project related experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required: Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments. Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures. Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices. Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools. Demonstrated proficiency in complex project management. Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments. A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes. Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations. Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations. Ability to handle stress with poise. Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences. Ability to delegate authority appropriately. Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability. Ability to set priorities. Demonstrated leadership ability with team orientation. Coaching and mentoring skills and experience. Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent presentation skills. Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time. Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
