Harbor Industries Inc is Hiring a Technologies Buyer & Estimator Near Grand Haven, MI
Summary Technologies Buyer / Estimator will perform purchasing tasks in support of plant activity and will partner closely with Project Management to provide estimates of technology components that integrate with display fixtures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Procure and expedite component parts and materials including tech / IT component groups like digital displays & mounting systems, PCs / media players, SBCs, PCB boards and subcontractor assembly providers, IoT devices (cameras, home devices, consumer electronics, etc.), cable, high/low voltage components and cabling/wiring systems, PSU/PFU/UPS, fans, etc Coordinate Purchasing activities among various teams from: Technology, Assembly, Scheduling and Project Management, to ensure customer orders are met Serve as a resource to Project Management and support project functions by providing expertise and information in areas including but not limited to cost estimations, lead times, material shortages or surpluses, and supply chain matters Communicate with the Project Manager with any pricing discrepancies between the estimate and actual cost from the supplier Issue PO’s for PPAP’s, tooling and long lead items identified between the Project Manager and Purchasing Act as the liaison between Engineering/Project Management and the supplier to resolve any print related discrepancies Attend all meetings concerning new launches with technology materials and/or components Serve as UL expert, gaining knowledge in UL codes and utilizing that knowledge to give input and guidance on how our displays can meet UL approval, in addition to serving the liaison between Harbor’s teams and UL Monitor supplier performance and work directly with suppliers on delivery and quality Handle supplier quality related to incoming product, rejecting material and handling charge back for suppliers when appropriate Develop and maintain successful relationships with vendors including occasional travel to market events Travel to customer or vendor locations or market events as needed to confirm supplier quality & performance and to develop and maintain successful relationships with vendors requiring a valid driver’s license and maintaining a satisfactory driving record Other duties may be assigned at any time
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s Degree from 4-year College or University and 5 years commodities purchasing experience; or 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Technology / IT based education a plus 5 years of relevant experience in IT/Technology Strategic Sourcing and contract negotiation Experience working in a complex IT environment and with hardware/software manufacturers, resellers and professional services organizations is required Experience sourcing from both IT/electrical distribution channels in the USA as well as dealing with Asia based tech suppliers and supply chains (Taiwan, China, etc.) Specific knowledge of common purchasing operations and methods
Other Qualifications Prior MRP experience preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical items at all levels of the organization
