Role : DevOps Engineer II (Full-time role)

Location : MN, Remote 

Job Responsibilities and Activities

• Follow all best practices, policies and procedures as established by company
• Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
• Have a good knowledge of IT best practices and operations in an always-up, always-available service model
• Proficient in documenting various system processes; update existing processes per defined requirements
• Background in Linux/Unix or Windows Administration & IT Operations required
• Working experience in coding & scripting with a reusable object-oriented approach
• Working experience in an Agile Scrum delivery model
• Working experience in Gitlab CI; inclusive of branching, versioning, access management & pipeline configuration/execution
• Working experience with automation/configuration management such as Ansible, HashiCorp, Gitlab CI, Nexus or an equivalent
• Experience with IaC infrastructure automation tools for infrastructure provisioning/validation using Hashi Terraform
• Testing experience covering implemented designs & system integrity leveraging automated unit testing patterns
• Experience with Docker & Kubernetes container orchestration and management preferred
• Working experience with managing & configuring cloud services; AWS preferred such as AWS EKS/ECS, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS VPC, AWS EC2, AWS S3 Buckets, AWS RDS for example.
• Knowledge of AWS Cloudtrail, ELK, Stackdriver or similar log aggregation equivalent
• Knowledge of AWS Cloudwatch, Prometheus/Grafana, Elastic or similar monitoring equivalent
• Ability to brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve agile development delivery
• Ability to take work direction with some oversight of tasks
• Consult with peers or cross team for feedback during testing stages
• Maintain and monitor configuration standards
• Assist in preparation of manuals for training workers in use of new procedures or equipment, according to organizational policy
• Assist with the testing of new or upgrades of the operating systems and system administrative software prior to implementing into the test and production environments
• Perform basic administrative functions under the direction of a senior engineer

Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience

• High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, software engineering, or related field
• 2-4 years previous experience in development and operations, or related IT, computer, or operations field
• Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
• AWS certification in one or more roles such as DevOps, Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect is preferred.
• Experience with Scrum/Kanban, Agile workflow methodologies
• Up-to-date on latest Cloud industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently
• Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Able to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift equipment up to 30 pounds or more

1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and interpersonal skills. Can demonstrate an ability to work in geographically dispersed teams.
2. Demonstrate basic analytical and conceptual skills used to define technical needs and solve technical problems

• Must be available to work off hours or shifts as required for 24/7/365 support

Physical Requirements

• Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment

1. Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal

• Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday

1. Stooping, bending, twisting and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
