Company Background: 

Hanwha Aerospace’s International Engine Business is headquartered in Hartford County, CT and has operations in the USA, Vietnam and South Korea. As part of Hanwha Aerospace, the largest aerospace and defense company in South Korea, the International Engine Business team delivers to OEM and Tier 1 customers the most complex machined, fabricated and assembled product and modules for use in engine and other aerospace applications.

This role will serve as the VP/GM and sit on the COO Leadership Team. The VP/GM will lead the HAU Division of our company, overseeing all aspects of operations, strategy, and profitability. This role requires a dynamic leader with a proven track record of driving growth, managing complex projects, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and achieving strategic objectives, managing P&L performance, and ensuring the division's alignment with overall company goals. 

Reporting directly to the COO of the International Engine Business the position has frequent interaction with the CEO, CCO and other functional business leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

Develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth, profitability, and market expansion in alignment with company goals and objectives.

Identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and competitive threats to inform strategic decision-making.

Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement to drive operational efficiency and excellence across all sites.

Operational Management:

Provide leadership and direction to site managers and functional leaders to ensure consistent execution of operations and attainment of performance targets.

Oversee production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize capacity utilization and meet customer demand.

Implement robust quality management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer requirements.

Financial Performance:

Assume full P&L ownership for Hanwha Aerospace USA. Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to achieve revenue, margin, and cash flow objectives.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance and identify areas for improvement.

Drive cost reduction initiatives, process optimization, and productivity improvements to enhance profitability and competitiveness.

Customer Relationship Management:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.

Champion customer satisfaction initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance customer experience and loyalty.

Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and support customer acquisition and retention efforts.

Talent Development:

Attract, develop, and retain top talent within the organization through effective recruitment, training, and career development initiatives.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to direct reports and teams to foster a high-performance culture.

Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects our values and fosters innovation and creativity.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in the aerospace industry or other relatable industry, with a proven track record of success in executive management roles.

Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with experience managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams at all levels of the organization.

Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and drive results in a dynamic and competitive market environment.

Demonstrated experience in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and organizational change initiatives.

Knowledge of aerospace industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.

Ability to travel as needed to visit multiple sites and engage with customers, partners, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Proven track record of successfully leading multi-site operations within the aerospace industry.

Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities in a corporate environment.

Familiarity with international business practices and global market dynamics.

Strong network of industry contacts and relationships with key customers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.

Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement certifications.

Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other business management tools.

Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in aerospace, such as additive manufacturing, electric propulsion, or autonomous systems.
