This is a great opportunity for a person with a passion for patient care or that thinks they have a passion for providing assistance to our Clinical Teams and patients. We are looking for someone with some medical knowledge that can assist our Team in providing world class patient care. 

If you have experience in OT, PT or Athletic training or a related industry, this opportunity could be for you. 

Syracuse offers a busy medical practice in beautiful Central NY. 

As a Clinical Extender, you will have the opportunity to support the orthotic clinicians with patient care and perform various tasks that are administrative, operational and/or clinical. The ideal candidate will have a background with physical therapy and/or orthotics.

Your Impact

  • Assist clinician with patient care duties, including prepping rooms for patients, weighing, documentation, etc
  • Assist with fittings as needed, including measurements, repairs, adjustments, performing impressions, etc
  • Prepare devices for positive rectification
  • Assist patients in follow ups and general care of devices
  • Perform delivery of devices to patients as needed
  • Perform administrative tasks such as entering information into EMR systems, answer phones, scheduling, and patient check in
  • Perform general Scribe duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience with electronic health/medical record systems (preferably NextGen).
  • Minimum one to two years of medical experience required or equivalent combination of work and education.
  • Prior scribe experience or LPN strongly preferred.

  • Ability to communicate with other employees and to operate computer hardware systems. 
  • Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.

  • Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
  • Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility.
  • Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment.
  • Ability to participate in sustained activities while seated and standing for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
