JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing credit analysis for various size and types of credits throughout the Hancock footprint and job requires both internal and external interaction with Relationship Managers, Clients, Credit Managers, Credit Officers and support staff by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare credit approval packages.
  • Works on larger and more complicated credits applications.
  • Prepares various reports including concentration reports, committed/unfunded reports and total exposure reporting.
  • Retrieves credit information from all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, bank files and branches.
  • Performs structured financial analysis of customer financial statements and related material.
  • Prepares summary, presents facts and occasionally offers opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  • Prepares financial statement pro forma when requested by loan officers.
  • Assists in the analysis of specialized or highly complex credits.
  • Develops and maintains specialized analysis expertise in one or more industries.
  • Uses knowledge of credit policy, analysis and structure to develop solutions that meet the client's needs and Hancock Bank's risk.
  • Coordinates with others, including personnel in company branches and credit card companies, to exchange information and update controls.
  • Secondary Duties:
    • Works with management on special projects.
    • Assists with underwriting models.
    • Tracks financial statements and the solicitation process.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no supervisory duties.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 18 months of experience and training
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Computer Skills
    • Ability to learn or knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
    • Ability to learn or knowledge of Outlook email program
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    • No specific certifications, licensure or registrations are needed to satisfactorily perform this job.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
