Hampton University is Hiring a Director_ Cancer Research Center Near Hampton, VA

Director
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promote and facilitate cutting-edge research, including collaborative and interdisciplinary research, in areas related to the
strategic goals of the University.
  • Generate funding through federal and non-federal sources in the cancer field.
  • Work closely with the Vice President for Research to become internationally recognized for cutting edge clinical-
translational research of cancers that disproportionately affect ethnically diverse and underserved populations.
  • Participate in the selection of the other members of the HUCRC research team to recruit individuals with complementary
expertise who will be able to accelerate research progress.
  • Where applicable, develop mutually beneficial connections with institutions of higher education, corporations,
government agencies, industry and the community to develop partnerships and collaborative research.
  • Build and provide sufficient support for a community of innovative researchers to enhance research capacity at the
university and to increase internal and external research opportunities for faculty.

Requirements

  • Successful track record of research, scholarly, and/or creative achievement in the field on cancer.
  • Successful track record of academic leadership and team building.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the year.
Qualifications
A doctoral degree in molecular biology, biotechnology or a related field is required with demonstrable evidence of a track record
in research and grantsmanship in cancer field.
