The ESH Inspector I is an entry-level to an intermediate-level position. As an ESH Inspector I, the employee carries out a range of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) assignments while learning the methods of work. Responsibilities include monitoring job sites to support compliance with ESH policies, procedures, and programs. The role operates within general parameter but must use sound judgment and independent decision making when carrying out job responsibilities. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing protocols. This position may require overtime, in addition to, work on weekends and holidays. This position does not have regular hours or shift work and employee may be asked to start a shift several hours earlier than the oncoming shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum required education: High School diploma/GED, with two 2 years of experience in a shipyard environment. Required certifications: OSHA Maritime 10-Hour or 30-hour training, Initial and annual 8-hour update for Shipyard Competent Person training. Additional training will be provided upon hiring. Shipboard experience is required.
Candidate must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, management, customers and subcontractors. Perform evaluation and testing in various environments including but not limited to noise, illumination, atmospheric conditions (confined spaces), ensuring proper working environments are established and maintained.
