Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board is Hiring a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Near Hampton, VA

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8a to 4:30p

We specialize in offering support to adults who are navigating the challenges of substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our dedicated team is committed to delivering person-centered care that addresses the intricate interplay between substance use and psychiatric-related issues.

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Partners in Recovery, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic care to individuals facing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments to evaluate the impact of substance use on mental health.
  2. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans.
  3. Providing medication management and prescribing appropriate medications to address mental health concerns.
  4. Offering counseling and support to individuals and their families, fostering a therapeutic and trusting relationship.
  5. Participating in case conferences and team meetings to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
  6. Monitoring and documenting patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  7. Educating patients on medication management, side effects, and self-care strategies.

Job Requirements: Master's Degree with an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner specialty, and one (1) year of experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
