Since 1971, the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are living with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
At Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, we prioritize the growth and development of future practitioners in the behavioral healthcare field. Our internship and practicum programs are designed to provide a rich training experience with diverse clinical opportunities that align with the training or credentialing requirements of the student's affiliated institution. We place great emphasis on ongoing coordination and collaboration with our Training Program to create a personalized training plan, monitor the student's progress, and identify any additional support needed to ensure a successful learning experience over time.
Candidates must be current college students enrolled in a degree/certification program with one of our affiliated institutions, including the College of William & Mary, Christopher Newport University, Hampton University, Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, or Regent University. Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational skills, effective communication abilities, a passion for helping others, and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.
