The beautifully renovated Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites dual property by Hilton in Downers Grove is adding to it's team! We are looking for a part-time bartender who enjoys working with people and who would like to help provide a pleasant experience for our valued guests.

BASIC PURPOSE: Set up, tend and maintain the bar/restaurant bar area in a professional and courteous manner, abiding by all safety and liquor service guidelines in the process.

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with bar and restaurant management to determine in-house events to anticipate and plan for bar business
• Set up bar and restaurant areas according to standard policies and procedures
• Make and serve drinks to guests in a cordial, professional manner following established guidelines, policies and procedures regarding beverages and safety controls as prescribed by SUN, the state and the hotel
• Assist with taking food orders and delivering of orders when necessary, always in a professional, courteous and efficient manner
• Remove all liquor glasses and dishware from tables, tablecloths, trash and liquor from bar/restaurant area.
• Ensure cleanliness of bar and restaurant area continually throughout shift
• When needed, be willing to assist other departments and employees with any tasks requested by a supervisor or manager

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education: High School education or equivalent.

Experience: Previous bartending experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Able to read, speak and write English

Travel required: Local travel for outside catering functions may be required

Hours Required: Flexible; Scheduled days and times vary based on need and as directed by supervisor. Must adhere to the time and attendance policies set forth by the company

Physical Job Requirements

Tasks which may require these physical functions include, but are not limited to: Setting up bar and restaurant area for guest arrival, taking and delivering orders of food and beverages, usage of vacuum and other cleaning equipment, and assisting with kitchen tasks as needed.

Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying

• Lifting 20-40 lbs (trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.).
• Pushing 50-100 lbs (carts, queen marys, hot box, portable bar).
• Carry 20-40 lbs (trays, dish racks, glass racks, etc.).

Bending/Kneeling/Reaching

• Bending at the knees and waist does become necessary when lifting equipment and inventory, utilizing lower cooler and shelves, and overall movement throughout the entire shift
• Ability to bend to lower level cabinets and storage areas
• Ability to bend to lift trays, kegs, liquor supplies or cleaning supplies
• Reach to upper dish racks, stemware racks and liquor racks

Mobility

• Total mobility required for this position throughout the entire shift.
• Must be able to maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests

Continuous Standing/walking

This position requires constant standing and walking throughout the entire shift

Climbing Stairs

Some climbing of stairs may be required for this position

Hearing/Vision/Speech

• Must be able to communicate with supervisor, co-workers, and guests
• Must be able to understand and complete guest orders, ring in sales, balance ledgers and banks, and accurately handle cash
• Must be able to receive, understand and implement direction given by supervisors

Chemicals/Agents

Position requires the exposure to and use of standard kitchen/bar cleaning supplies

Equipment Operation

• Will be required to use standard bar equipment such as blenders, knives, ice makers, dishwashing machinery, sanitizing machinery and coffee machines
• May be required to use vacuum cleaners and basic kitchen cleaning supplies before or following shifts
