Hampton Farms is Hiring a Transportation Assistant Near Portales, NM

Purpose:

The Transportation Assistant of Hampton Farms is involved in the transportation of food products intended for the consumer. The Transportation Assistant needs to have an overall understanding of receiving practices, shipping practices, billing, claims and maintaining transportation records of Hampton Farms Peanut Products. Must have knowledge of packaging and labeling of finished product used at Hampton Farms. Must be able to fill out paperwork neatly and efficiently. The Transportation Assistant is trained in various areas pertaining to the job required. Transportation Assistant must maintain a clean and sanitary environment and must be familiar with the activity on the production floor to react if a crisis arises.

Essential Duties and Description: include the following though other duties may be assigned:

  • Work in conjunction with Sales, Accounting, Production and Warehouse as well as other Hampton Farms team members supporting warehouse/transportation requirements of Hampton Farms Peanut Company.
  • Partnering with other Hampton Farms team members in being committed to delivering the best possible experience to our customers and employees in support of our mission, vision, and values.
  • Understand the packaging and labeling of peanut products at Hampton Farms
  • Knowledge of weight and packaging of Hampton Farms products, ensures loads are correct weight.
  • Understand paperwork/BOL’s regarding loads
  • Maintain paperwork (BOL’s), fax/communicate on a daily basis with Corporate Accounting
  • Confirm Shipments in Mapics and Net Suite system on a daily basis.
  • Export Daily Confirm shipments into Excel Spreadsheet.
  • Email Daily Load Sheets to Sales, Production, Warehouse and Upper Management.
  • Knowledge of Net Suite program
  • Knowledge of returns, damaged product and/or incorrect product issues. Communication with Sales, Brokers and customers.
  • Maintain transportation records and orders: BOLs, purchase orders, rate sheets, scale tickets
  • Knowledge of printing Bills of Lading and/or Pick Orders
  • Maintain peanut trash spreadsheet
  • Responsible for end of month spreadsheet: cost, weight, cost per pound and number of loads
  • Check in drivers, directing traffic both inbound and outbound
  • Creating and sending ship sheets on daily/monthly basis for Portales Select Peanuts and North Hampton to Sales department and upper management.
  • Assisting carriers in making delivery appointments
  • Assist with telephone and email inquiries
  • Knowledge of truck scale, weights of axels if requested.
  • Welcoming visitors, assisting them with badges/lanyards and inform team member they are here to see.
  • Ensure visitors sign-in on Visitor log, and sign off on Hampton Farms GMP Card.
  • Work extensively in an office environment sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive computer and telephone use.
  • Filing/Storing - Maintain files/ records for orders/BOL’s/paperwork
  • Motivate staff to make an effective and efficient team.
  • Back-up Transportation Manager in the event of an absence.
  • Knowledge of building loads and communication with Brokers/Truck Drivers.
  • Knowledge of LTL/Pool Truck requirements.
  • Knowledge of freight cost

  • 100 % correct orders, orders fulfilled accurately and timely.
  • Maintaining quality service by following organization standards.
  • Process billing, claims, returns and sending daily spreadsheets
  • Good communication with other team members
  • Work with team members maintaining daily sanitation by cleaning work area at end of day.

Quality Assurance:

  • Knows and adheres to GMP Policy and all Quality policies and procedures
  • Assists in identifying and/or reporting non-conforming product to aid in eliminating waste.
  • ANYONE who is aware of a food safety/quality issue is to stop production immediately and inform Quality Assurance and their Manager or Supervisor of the food safety/quality issue(s) to determine whether or not product/materials should be placed on hold.
  • Communicates daily with Plant Manager to ensure customer specifications are met.

Additional Sanitation Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure all chemical containers are labeled and used in the correct way.
  • Ensure overall compliance and adherence to sanitation schedule and/or requirements.

** If Transportation Assistant is out, a trained responsible person shall be designated to run the Transportation Assistant’s duties. Transportation Manager is designee. **

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends.
  • Ability to clearly present recommendations/ideas and to summarize issues.
  • Ability to appropriately handle and maintain confidential material.

Desired:

  • Experience in transportation operations, inventory experience, or logistics in food manufacturing.
  • Must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently to visit other sister manufacturing locations as needed.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Second language (Spanish), a strong plus
  • Proficient in standard Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Work Environment

  • Combination of office environment along with duties that will require the incumbent work in a plant environment where physical hazards such as production equipment and forklifts may be present.
